Middle East chaos

People my age are used to 50 years of UN Security Council resolutions either
- supported by the US and then vetoed by the Soviet Union, later Russia
- supported by the Soviet Union, later Russia and then vetoed by the US.

That has been the norm ever since I can remember, but with Putin’s Puppet now in the White House, we have a historical first - a resolution condemning Turkey brought by EU democracies and vetoed by Russia and the US. And we can bet its not going to be the last.

Putin is probably laughing all the way to Sochi. His puppet, bought with relatively little investment, has not only said nothing about Crimea, but has now effectively handed him a big footprint in Syria.

Thomas Friedman has a great column in the NYT comparing Dotard’s decision to when you disobey your GPS instructions, and the screen then says - Recalculating. There is now recalculating, recalculating, recalculating going on all over the Middle East, with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and even Israel wondering if they can rely on the US - or whether they will also be thrown under the bus for not helping in Normandy.

He expects all the first 3 to start reaching out to Iran as an insurance policy. After all, Dubai’s magnificent glass Manhattan is only minutes away from an Iranian attack, which would crush its attractiveness in an instant. The Saudis have already had an attack. If General Bone Spurs (who only served in the red light district on 7th avenue), now acts based on the Normandy Threshold, the mullahs in Teheran suddenly appear more reliable. And with Syria likely to get even closer to Iran, the long dreamed of corridor from Teheran to Beirut, encircling Israel, is now closer to reality. Even Bluster BiBi has to be worried by that.

So besides Putin, and of course Erdogan, the third person laughing all the way to the mosque may well be Khameini.

So much for Dotard’s great and unsurpassed wisdom.

On the other hand, he may have unintendedly helped to make the Middle East a little less violent. If the Mullahs and the Saudis kiss and make up, it would reduce a lot of the violence out there. Of course, that would also make Israel more worried.
There are unfortunately no easy solutions that suit everybody.
