WisCONsin

Image
So much for Foxconn’s $ 10 billion investment in Wisconcin creating 13000 jobs, much touted by Dotard and Scott Walker, as they symbolically dug shovels into the ground with Foxconn president Terry Gou, who was no doubt laughing at these dumbos.  Doesn’t that look like a pile of shxt on those shovels?  Dotard called it the “eighth wonder of the world”, which it has turned out to be. You have to wonder what happened to it. Walker was willing to subsidize it with $ 3 billion, one hell of a lot for “just” 13000 jobs. As it happens, looks like it will be more like 1300 jobs, and could even be just 130.  And no blue collar jobs. They will employ mainly “researchers”. Probably good news for Indian PhDs in the US. There will be no factory. Those Trumpkins will have to wait. Ok, somebody also has to clear all that shxt that was dug up Great deal, Dotard. So much winning. Just like those 6 new US Steel plants, that somehow nobody seems to be able to locate, since they only exist in Dotard’s bi

Brexit update

We had a rare show yesterday, with Speaker Bercow (unknown a month ago, but now a great hero) allowing votes on 7 amendments regarding Brexit, and there was almost 3 hours of 600 people voting. You need real stamina for that, as people will need if the UK really crashes out of the EU. And it was the Commons, and not the Lords, so there were no crazy clothes to laugh at and help pass the time. 5 of the amendments failed, 4 by small margins. But 2 did pass. One was to avoid “no deal”. So at least we now know that there is a majority in Parliament to avoid No Deal. On the other hand, the amendment or its sponsors have not put forward any idea as to how to avoid it. Its not as though the UK can decide that unilaterally. It also weakens May a bit in further negotiations, as the EU now also knows that the UK does not want No Deal. The game of chess can carry on. The second amendment that passed was to renegotiate the Irish border. The famous old Backstop, that I have written about often, in

End to shutdown

“This was in no way a concession”. Talk about being completely delusional. Govt opened (win for Nancy), ZERO money for wall (not a concession for Dotard, no way). But okay, Kellyanne tells me that Nancy privately promised him $ 10 as the down payment he had demanded. And if he doesn’t build that wall, he could use it to buy a toy for Barron. What, you say, a billionaire doesn’t need $ 10 to buy a toy for his son. Well, this one once made an effort to get $8 for his other son, so $ 10 is a win, 25% more than last time. So tired of winning..... So tired of winning......that is what Nancy will probably be saying over the next 2 years. Turtle McConnell’s most famous phrase, repeated many times, is “there’s no learning in the second kick of a mule”. Assuming he really believes that, presumably there is  absolutely  no learning in the third kick, which is why I doubt there will be another shutdown after 3 weeks. While there will be no wall, there will be money for paint for some existi

Race to 2020

So the record has been smashed. There have never been 2 women vying for a major party nomination, but we now have 4 Dems in the race for 2020, and will probably have more. Elizabeth Warren kicked it off with her announcement on New Year’s eve, and in the meantime, Kirsten Gillebrand, Tulsi Gabbard and Kamala Harris have joined the fray. The progressive female lane is getting crowded. And there is still Amy Klobuchar, Oprah, and Michelle Obama, who has given the Full Sherman denial, but would be top of the charts if she does jump in. (Not to mention Kim Kardashian, 500 to 1 at the London bookies. Perhaps with Kanye as VP.) On PredictIt, Kamala leads again at 20c, followed by Beto at 17c and Biden at 15c. The London bookies vary, but are in that ballpark. Still a long way to go, so unless you are an active speculator, take these odds with handfuls of salt. From the men, only Julian Castro (and the unknowns Delaney, Ojeda and Yang) has thrown his hat in, but expect the Senators lane
