Dem debates

Who would have thought? The Dem debates turned the horse race upside down. At our last update, Biden was well ahead in the polls and with the bookies. Kamala, who had been the bookies favorite for all of 2018, had fallen into 5th place both in the polls and with the bookies. It looked like Biden was going to run away with it. What a difference a debate makes. At the bookies, Kamala is again in the lead, closely followed by Warren and Biden. Sanders and Buttigeig then bring up the Top 5. The rest are still only also-rans. Will have to see in the next 2-3 days if the polls also reflect that. Looking at the debates together, Kamala was the clear winner, followed by Warren and Buttigeig. Her gentle but firm takedown of Biden has been replayed and rehashed by the pundits a hundred times. She clearly shows she has what it takes to take on Trump. Her story about the little girl being bussed to school will live on for a long time. Biden appeared old and out of touch, and when he twice said, “

Iran deal update

As Dotard struggles to convince the G19 to support him on Iran, and no support coming except from his chum MbS, we now know why Trump thinks the Iran deal is a disaster. It has Obama’s signature. EU diplomats are now sure that if nothing changed in the deal except a few commas and semi-colons, but Trump would sign it instead of Obama, he would sign it immediately and proclaim it the greatest deal in history. EU bureaucrats are working on such “meaningless changes”, as one called it.  After all, this is a President who’s ego is more important than anything else, and everybody from world leaders to ball boys, baggage handlers and porn stars have realized this. So he struts on the world stage at Osaka and talks about his great relationships with everybody, while all those everybodies are laughing behind his back, as are the cooks, waiters and cleaners at the venue. But coming back to Iran, there was a meeting yesterday in Vienna of Iran and the other 5 signatories. My spies tell me that

Supreme Joke

Imagine Russian or North Korean citizens going to court and complaining that the election system wasn’t fair. The court rules that they (the Court) have no standing, as there are elections, and that is where citizens can change things. We would all laugh at that as a bad joke. But that is exactly what the Supreme Court just ruled in the gerrymandering case. So in North Carolina, for example, where 50% of the vote has given the GOP 75% of the seats in the last 4 elections, the SC says that citizens should vote to break that. Exactly, just like in Moscow or Pyongyang. Just keep voting and hope that Putin and Kim go away, or that the GOP gets less seats thru some prayer to Jesus. Poor John Roberts. He knows that the legitimacy of his court is going down by the day, and he hates that, but his innate conservative blood prevents him from doing anything about it. Yes, he did temporarily vote to block the citizenship question on the census forms for now, probably hoping to show how impartial

Deal (or Joke) of the Century?

So you are invited to a wedding party where the bride and groom are not going to show up. That’s the best that can be said for the much-trumpeted, 2 1/2 years in the making, fantastic Peace Plan from Jared and Trump that landed with a thud in Bahrain yesterday, and will probably be buried and forgotten today. 2 1/2 years of sucking up to criminals and dictators and this is the best they could come up with? Heck, give me 3 months, and while I may not bring about peace in the region, I will certainly do better than this. The problem starts with the fact that Trump (and Jared) are only motivated by money, for which they will sell their souls to the devil. In fact, already have. They cannot imagine people with more principles and ideals than they have. Hence, their absurd plan - give the region $ 50 billion, about half of which is for the Palestinians, and tell them all to shut up. I know - the “political” part of the plan is still to come - but just like so many of Trump’s plans like he

Concentration camps

Unfortunately a huge debate has broken out over whether @AOC calling them concentration camps is right or an insult to the memory of the Holocaust. Personally I think the terminology used here is beside the point - this is a massive stain that will haunt America for centuries to come, and its simply amazing that half the country thinks its quite okay. Including most GOP congressmen/women. One would not expect better from Trump’s rabble. And maybe one shouldn’t from evangelicals either, who have shown that their hypocrisy knows no bounds. Their white Jesus, unlike the biblical one, would also treat migrants like shit. As for the GOP - they are too scared of Trump and busy kissing his (insert body part) to say a word. Mike Pence, VP, and such a holy man, he never dines alone with a woman not his wife - he is uncomfortable, but “we cannot do anything about it”. He will fight to the death for the unborn, but not for the born. Life begins at conception and ends at birth. And Trump himself

Iran conflict

Now wouldn’t it be great if the President of the US and the world’s Greatest Liar were 2 different people? The question about who is to blame for the attacks on the 2 ships in the Gulf 2 weeks ago(and 4 earlier attacks) and whether the shot down drone was in Irani territory or not,  shows the difficulties when the 2 people above are the same. After 10800+ false or misleading statements (as per WaPo count), Trump’s declaration that Iran was responsible drew scepticism not only in most of the rest of the world, but in the US as well. So you can lie as much as you want, and with the spineless GOP only too willing to line up kneeling behind you to kiss your (insert body part), you may think there are no consequences. But when you make a claim on an important issue like this, the fact that you have zero credibility gives your opponent, in this case Iran, the upper hand with world opinion. While European and other leaders have to be diplomatic, newspapers and opposition leaders have openly

Letters to my twin

Dotard mentioned a week ago that he had got another “beautiful letter” from the man who originally gave him the name Dotard. And not to be outdone, the original Little Rocket Man said yesterday that he had received an “excellent letter” from the man who originally gave him the name Little Rocket Man. A bit weak that, Kim. Surely your propaganda artists could come up with something better, like “heavenly letter” or “divine greetings”. But the KCNA did go on to say that  “Appreciating the political judging faculty and extraordinary courage of President Trump, Kim Jong Un said that he would seriously contemplate the interesting content”. That’s a bit better, Rocket Man. Now, people, what could that “interesting content” be? Do you think Dotard shared with him the phone numbers of his favorite porn stars? Or gave him easy to follow step by step directions on how to grab puxxies? What could be “interesting” to these 2 twins? The biggest tragedy of course is that we now have an American Pre

I(also)Ran

So all Trump’s bluster, America First, hit out at friends and allies while sleeping with porn stars, maximum pressure on everybody except some of the world’s worst dictators, ginning up all the mad men in America, has finally resulted in America Alone. While Iran may well be to blame for the ship attacks, and the drone shot down may well have been in international waters, nobody is taking America’s side. The European (unsaid) view is that Iran has been unfairly backed into a corner, and is taking legitimate action to defend its interests. The ultimate chutzpah was Pompeo warning the Iranians not to break the nuclear deal - one year after the US broke it itself. That’s the new Art of the Deal - we make a deal, but only you are supposed to keep it. I won’t, but I will hammer you if you won’t. Luckily for the world, The Dotard himself doesn’t want war, though his attack dogs, especially Pompeo, Bolton and Cotton are all straining at the leash. Suggestion - children and grandchildren of

Dem Nomination - June update

So back to the horse race, which we haven’t updated for some time. To summarize what has happened so far - out of the 700+ politicians, celebrities, billionaires, crooks (some overlapping with previous categories), do-gooders, resisters,  clowns and others that had expressed interest in joining the race for the Dem 2020 nomination, a total of just 24 finally threw their hat into the ring. Strangely, the billionaire’s lane, which would have the least problems with funding, dried up altogether, with Bloomberg, Zuckerberg, Cuban and Oprah all giving it a pass, and Starbucks Schultz looking at an independent run (which also probably won’t happen). Perhaps they all felt that Americans have already seen what a disaster a billionaire President can be. Which leaves us with  - the further left or Socialist lane, comprising Sanders and Warren - the left-y lane with Kamala, Booker, Yang and a couple of likely also-rans - the just-about-left lane with Pete B, Amy Klobuchar, Jay Inslee and others

The Gulf attacks

Now wouldn’t it be great if the President of the US and the world’s Greatest Liar were 2 different people? The question about who is to blame for the attacks on the 2 ships in the Gulf this week (and 4 earlier attacks) shows the difficulties when the 2 people above are the same. After 10800+ false or misleading statements (as per WaPo count), Trump’s declaration that Iran was responsible drew scepticism not only in most of the rest of the world, but in the US as well. But when you make a claim on an important issue like this, the fact that you have zero credibility gives your opponent, in this case Iran, the upper hand with world opinion. While European and other leaders have to be diplomatic, newspapers and opposition leaders have openly mocked Trump’s claims. As always, there are old Trump tweets to n

Brexiternity Update June

There are 2 big political contests right now with plenty of contenders. As the Dem 2020 nomination is still a way off, will update that later. But lets now get into the meat of the @ToryLeadershipContest, which will come to its scary finale pretty soon. To recap how the thing works, anybody can throw their hat into the ring, but need the backing of at least 8 Tory MPs. 10 people made the cut, and now in a series of votes among the 300 or so Tory MPs, that will finally be brought down to 2 candidates. Then the party’s 120000 paying members will choose one of them as Tory Leader, who in this case will automatically become the next Prime Minister. So the fate of Great Britain (or Little England) is in the hands of those 120000 members, who are disproportionately old, white and rich, as compared to the general population, and disproportionately voted for Brexit. What can possibly go wrong? Clown Boris is the overwhelming favorite at just 1.5 to 1 with the London bookies, and 74% on Predic

Tory contest - Boris vs All

This is the first time since the introduction of the Gregorian calendar centuries ago that the first week of June is also the last week of May.  Ok, ok, I know many are playing word games with this. I only added the Gregorian bit. And with that we have a new horse race starting up, with already a dozen candidates lining up to be the next fool trying to deliver Brexit. While a lot, its still only half the 24 horses (donkeys?) in the race for the Democatic nomination. Which makes me wonder whether I should abandon my attempt to join that race and instead shoot for Nr. 10. I mean I have put in a lot of time and effort already, and my US birth certificate is already in the post (The US still uses some ancient technologies). I had bumped into some difficulties originally, but then got some friends in Nairobi and Hawaii involved. After all, they had already pulled it off once before, so they knew the ropes. But US birth certificate or not, Downing Street is also quite appealing. Its closer.

US UK trade deal

Dotard spoke in his teleconference with May about the “phenomenal” trade deal they could sign, which would make up for all losses on EU trade. Ha, ha, said all the economists listening. Here is the current trade relationship of the UK with the EU and the US.  UK trade with the EU - $ 600 bn roughly UK trade with the US - $ 200 bn roughly The former dwarfs the latter - no wonder, since its next door and all regulations are the same. A 10% decrease in trade with the EU would require almost a 40% increase in trade with the US to make that up. The tooth fairy and trade fairy would need to visit. Dotard, of course, in Trumpian terms, talked of doubling or tripling the trade volume. I suppose that would mean a Trump Tower in every Town, and every female Brit carrying an Ivanka handbag. In return, Trump could promise that every American would get drunk on scotch, and be forced to love haggis. And that assumes the trade would be on equally profitable terms. But knowing Dotard, he is on
