Cohen Testimony
Only saw a few bits and pieces, but here some thoughts......
I suppose only the GOP could make a crook like Cohen look completely sympathetic. On the other hand, when you have absolute con men, crooks, grifters and hypocrites questioning you, you will appear sympathetic.
The GOPers didn’t realize that everything they accused Cohen of was not only equally applicable to Trump, but not knowing what was happening, any passing observer would think they were talking of Trump.
Jordan: His consciousness of wrongdoing is fleeting. . . . His remorse is minimal. . . . His instinct to blame others is strong.”
Green: “He is a narcissist...a bully...who cannot tell the truth”.
Hey, isn’t that what everybody’s said a million times about Trump?
And Cohen, who has nothing to lose now, played around with his GOP tormentors.
Rep. Gosar (he who’s 6 siblings made a campaign ad against him): you are a professional liar.
Cohen: Are you referring to me or the President?
GOPers are not upset that Cohen lied to protect Trump. They are upset that he has stopped lying to protect Trump, as a Dem rep pointed out. Which increases their hard work of protecting Trump. A lot of them didn’t want to do that, but at the same time are afraid of Trump. So they gave up their time to Jordan and Meadows, who have no problem kissing Trump’s (insert body part). It was easier than bringing back that lady who had questioned Christine Blasey Ford.
And as Jordan mentioned his taxes for the 4th time, Cohen rightly said: The American people are not interested in my (xxxxxxg) taxes. They want to know what I know about President Trump’s criminal behavior.
Meadows trots out a black Trump employee (Lynne Patton) to “prove” Trump isn’t racist. Cohen says to ask her how many blacks are executives in the Trump organization. Silence from Meadows and Patton. Patton will probably end up like Omarosa (and Cohen and all the GOP reps) - Defend him as long as he doesn’t treat you like sxxt, then when he does, call him a racist, sexist, con, and everything else
“I was silly because I did the same thing that you are doing now for 10 years: I protected Mr. Trump,” Cohen told Republicans. “I can only warn people: The more people who follow Mr. Trump, as I did blindly, are going to suffer the same consequences that I’m suffering.” If there is any justice, that will come true. Especially for this bunch of GOP grovellers - starting with Tortoise McConnell in the Senate.
What’s really crazy is that the GOPers were attacking Cohen as a criminal and a liar. But of course, he was one of Trump’s closest aides for 10 years. What does that say about Trump? Trump,the criminal-and-liar-in-chief, created Cohen in his own image.
GOP rep Clay Higgins said he hadn’t heard of Cohen till the FBI raid. Which raises the question - when you are an ostrich with your head in the sand, how can you now be qualified to ask questions? On the other hand, he is a conservative Christian and has been married 4 times (even beating his hero Dotard), so I suppose he doesn’t know anything about hypocrisy......
GOP rep Carol Miller: This is a waste of our time. We could be doing real work.
Apparently she has forgotten the Benghazi hearings. Or maybe she wants to get back to Hillary’s emails.
Dems were worried that Trump may have worked for a foreign adversary, may have committed tax fraud, and was bashing the Constitution. GOPers were worried that Cohen was getting a book deal.
Samantha Bee tweeted: Hard to believe that so many white guys have been talking for so long, and they haven’t mentioned Green Book yet
Cohen is a sleazebell and lied, but his IQ was clearly far higher than most of the GOPers who were questioning him
And as somebody said, even if Jesus returned to Earth to testify against Trump, GOP congressmen would call him a fxxking liar.
In the meantime, AOC, in the most impressive 5 minutes of the whole show, clearly brought out a number of Trump potential crimes to be investigated. They no doubt will be.
And in the meantime, while that was going on, The Dotard was asking Little Rocket Man in Hanoi whether North Korean missiles could reach Michael Cohen........
