Concentration camps

Unfortunately a huge debate has broken out over whether @AOC calling them concentration camps is right or an insult to the memory of the Holocaust. Personally I think the terminology used here is beside the point - this is a massive stain that will haunt America for centuries to come, and its simply amazing that half the country thinks its quite okay. Including most GOP congressmen/women.

One would not expect better from Trump’s rabble.
And maybe one shouldn’t from evangelicals either, who have shown that their hypocrisy knows no bounds. Their white Jesus, unlike the biblical one, would also treat migrants like shit.
As for the GOP - they are too scared of Trump and busy kissing his (insert body part) to say a word.
Mike Pence, VP, and such a holy man, he never dines alone with a woman not his wife - he is uncomfortable, but “we cannot do anything about it”. He will fight to the death for the unborn, but not for the born. Life begins at conception and ends at birth.
And Trump himself is the one who says “they are only sending us criminals and rapists” No doubt he was looking into a mirror.

And so here we are, with children in cages, without toothbrushes or soap, sleeping on the cement floor with aluminium foil blankets, as there is no money for anything better. If you do the math, 1 km of the stupid wall will pay for toothbrushes and soap for migrant kids for the next 20 years. But the “greatest country on earth” has no problem competing for the greatest cruelty. Cruelty is actually the point here. We will torture your children till you stop coming. Our Bible says its okay.

Why talk about Islamic terrorism abroad when you have Christian terrorism at home?

So I was pleasantly surprised to read the Salt Lake Tribune (Utah’s biggest newspaper) editorial condemning the camps and agreeing with @AOC that they are effectively concentration camps. Utah is a very red state, but unlike the evangelical red states, it is predominantly Mormon - and the Mormons know what persecution looks like. You can find it on sltrb.com. (I cannot send you the URL as its not available in the EU as its not yet GDPR compliant. I got thru once only).

Will this cause Utah to change their voting behavior? You never know. Change has got to start somewhere. The editorial does call out Romney and Mike Lee, Utah’s 2 senators, both Mormon. But whether either of them is courageous enough to defy Trump is questionable.

In the meantime, whether you call them detention camps or concentration camps (or summer camps, like the Fox bxtch Laura Ingraham did), they are and will remain, like Stalin’s gulags for Russia, a blot on America forever. No wonder Trump, Kim and Putinget along so well - they all run these camps. Maybe those “beautiful letters” are just exchanging tips on brutality.....
