The Taliban and the Liar
I wrote a couple of months ago about how strange it was that the world believed Iran rather than the US President, also known as the Liar-in-Chief.
Well, Iran was at least a state actor. Now we are so far that everybody believes the Terrorist Taliban over the US President.
Just imagine - ruthless killers, protectors of Osama bin Laden - but their word is worth more than that of the Liar-in-Chief in the White House. “Unbeknownst” to Dotard, nobody believes him any more.
So while the L i C announced with fanfare on Twitter that HE, the Chosen One, had cancelled the meeting at the last minute, the Taliban said that they had never agreed to a meeting in the first place. Only 1 of those 2 stories could be true, and judging by the foreign policy establishment in the US and Europe, everybody believes the Taliban.
What a world, when the word of the US President is basically worth shxt.
But Dotard wanted praise for cancelling a meeting that was never going to take place anyway. And then he was so mad that he fired Bolton, who had been against the meeting in the first place (though for dubious reasons). Of course, we all can breathe a sigh of relief that Mad Man Bolton is gone without starting a couple of new wars. But unfortunately we still have to deal with Mad Man Dotard still in the White House.
As David Frum laid out in detail in The Atlantic, Dotard is still so convinced he can get a Nobel Prize (something that hated Obama got after all), that he was willing to overrule all his advisers, believing his personality would convince the Taliban to sign a peace deal. Of course, in the meantime, not only the Taliban, and Kim, and Xi, but the whole world knows that Dotard is the worst negotiator on the planet. They refused to come to the US until a deal was signed, and not join the pretence that Trump had convinced them to sign at Camp David.
Seeing he could not walk out as the Hero of the story, and with the Taliban refusing to come to his meeting, Trump the eternal loser who can never admit defeat, claimed he had disinvited the Taliban and cancelled the meeting.
What next? How about a black tie State Dinner for his love Kim, followed by a night in the Lincoln Bedroom? Of course, who sleeps with who would have to be worked out.
