Let the church bells ring and joy spread across the land. After waiting for more than 3 years and 16500 lies, the US President finally spoke a sentence of truth when asked about the budget he released yesterday.
“We’re doing a lot of things that are good, including waste and fraud. Tremendous waste and tremendous fraud.”Not a truer word ever emerged from the Dotard’s lips, or other body part.
(I am not making this up. That is an exact quote, word for word).
No doubt noticing with horror that he had actually spoken the truth for once, he and his sycophants went back immediately to lying big time. No, the budget doesn’t cut Medicaid by almost a trillion. Those are not cuts, but savings. No, they are not cutting nutrition programs by 200 billion, when 12 million American kids go to bed hungry. They are just going to make children healthier. They are not cutting housing assistance, after Trump has ranted so much about homelessness.
The fact that his proposals often totally contradicted what he said in the SOTU just a week ago didn’t bother him. He sent out his acting budget director, Russell Vought, to defend the budget before reporters, and poor Russell really became “acting” - or learnt to act and avoid laughing
over the absurdities he had to say. Like the ones above. One was reminded of poor Sean Spicer insisting the inauguration crowds were the biggest in History. Period.
But you cannot do much when 60+ million people believe brazen lies, even when those lies are going to hurt them. This is what happens with cults. Jim Jones could get 900 people to die needlessly for their belief in him. Hitler could get millions. So why not our modern day dictator?
Of course, Pelosi will rip up Trump’s budget the moment it lands on her desk, and it will be forgotten after that. But it should be a reminder of what could have happened if the GOP still controlled the House. Of course, most GOP reps/Senators privately hate Trump’s plans. But at they have shown us enough times, none of them have the b....., er, spine to oppose him.
